 Introduction
The first fight in the Naxxramas plague wing, Noth is a necromancer who uses spells and summons to attempt to overwhelm the raid.
Raid Setup
25 Man
3 tanks
4-5 healers
..and the rest DPS.
Of the healers and DPS, a recommended minimum of 3 players should be able to decurse.
10 Man
2 Tanks
2-3 Healers
..and the rest DPS.
Of the healers and DPS, a recommended minimum of 2 players should be able to decurse.
Gear Requirements
As a whole, the fight doesn't require any special equipment. People should use the best that they have to fulfil their roles most effectively.
Buffs and Consumables
All standard raid buffs are recommended.
 Boss Abilities
8 400 000 HP (25 man), 2 750 000 HP (10 man)
Melee Hit - Approximately 6000 physical damage in 25 man and 4000 in 10 man.
Curse of the Plaguebringer - Places a debuff on 10 random people in the raid with a curse lasting 10 seconds. After these 10 seconds the curse will afflict the player with Wrath of the Plaguebringer. This can not be allowed to happen, as such all decursers must remove these curses as soon as possible. This ability has no cooldown and is used when Noth "feels" like it.
Wrath of the Plaguebringer - When this ability activates at the end of Curse of the Plaguebringer, it hits everyone in a 30 yard radius of the player for around 6000 shadow damage (4000 in 10 man) and then another 3000-4000 damage (1000-2000 in 10 man) every 2 seconds thereafter for 10 seconds.
Blink (Heroic Only) - Blink is on a short timer (around 30 seconds), however it is not always used instantly and is instead used whenever Noth "feels" like it. It teleports Noth 20 yards away and resets his aggro list.
Cripple (Heroic Only) - This hits the 5 people closest to Noth before he Blinks. It reduces strength, movement speed and attack speed by 50%. It can be removed by classes able to dispel magic.
Spawn Skeletons - Every 30 seconds after he is engaged, Noth will summon 3 skeletons from bone piles around the room (2 skeletons in 10 man).
- Plagued Warriors - The Skeletons that are spawned have 130 000 HP (100 000 HP 10 man), and can cleave. They hit for around 3000-4000 melee damage (1000 in 10 man).
Berserk - After 3 balcony teleports (see below), Noth will go Berserk, increasing his damage by 1000%.
Balcony Teleports - Approximately every 2 minutes after engaging Noth he will teleport up to the balcony above the room and summon waves of skeletons to attack you. These phases last for 70 seconds.
- Teleport 1 - Noth summons 2 waves of 4 Plagued Champions (2 Plagued Champions in 10 man), 35 seconds apart. 70 seconds total.
- Plagued Champions have 130 000 HP (105 000 HP 10 man), hits for 3-5k melee damage on tanks (2-3k 10 man) and also have Mortal Strike. In 25 man only, they also have an ability called Shadow Shock which is an area of effect spell instantly hitting for 3-4k shadow damage. These need to be killed as quickly as possible.
- Teleport 2 - Noth summons 2 waves of mixed Plagued Champions and Plagued Guardians 35 seconds apart. 70 seconds total. The Plagued Guardians are top priority to kill.
- Plagued Guardians have 100 000 HP (75 000 HP 10 man), hit for 1000-2000 and have an Arcane Explosion ability which hits for 6000 damage (4000 10 man) to everyone within 30 yards.
- Teleport 3 - This balcony teleport is identical to Teleport 2.
Phase 1
Positioning
Noth is tanked in one corner of the room with the ranged part of the raid (split into groups in 25 man) in the main area of the room.
The Pull
The fight will start almost immediately after people enter the room. The doorway will also become blocked so everyone must be inside the room before pulling.
To pull, the tank can just run in and pick Noth up.
The Fight
Once the raid runs in and the tank has established threat on the boss all DPS should focus on doing as much damage as possible. The 2 offtanks (one off-tank in 10 man) need to pick up the skeletons that spawn and keep them ready for the Balcony phase.
Players who can decurse need to ensure that when Curse Of The Plaguebringer is applied it is dispelled as quickly as possible to prevent the raid taking huge damage.
In 25 man, when Noth uses Blink, the raid needs to temporarily hold DPS for a second to allow the main tank to pick him up again, however this will only be for a very short time; once the tank has picked Noth up again the DPS can continue.
Main Tank: You need to build aggro as quickly as you can during every phase and ater each Blink in order to allow your DPS to maximise their output. Noth will normally only Blink around 20 yards away, so be ready to use Intercept, Death Grip or Feral Charge right away.
Other Tanks: Stay with your groups and pick up any skeletons that spawn.
Healers: Heal your assigned targets; ideally the raid will want 1 healer on each tank (and also 1 person raid healing in 25 man).
Ranged DPS: DPS Noth as much as possible. When Noth Blinks, you need to stop DPS immediately in order for the main tank to regain aggro. After Noth Blnks, hunters are recommended to Misdirect Noth back onto the main tank.
Melee DPS: Keep DPSing Noth at all times. When he Blinks, wait for the tank to regain aggro and then continue. When Noth teleports up to the balcony, go assist the other groups in killing the waves of spawns.
People who can remove curses: Curse removal is your number 1 priority: never let a Curse of the Plaguebringer finish.
Balcony Phases
New skeletons will spawn and run towards the raid. They will be aggroed by AoE. This should not be a problem, and generally the tanks can contribute some DPS to this phase. The entire raid needs to group up and start killing all the skeletons that your off tank(s) currently have and any new ones which spawn.
Using area of effect abilities in this phase is generally recommended due to the low HP of the mobs involved and their low damage output.
Once the 70 seconds of a balcony phase is over, Noth will teleport into the middle of the room again. All skeletons will be dead at this point, so you can simply resume the "Phase 1" strategy.
Miscellaneous Tips
After Noth dies, any remaining skeletons will despawn.
Hunters can help after Noth Blinks by misdirecting him on to the main tank.
