Introduction
Razorscale is one of the first bosses in Ulduar you get to fight. It is a large armoured Proto-Drake with abilities to match. This fight focuses on the ability to handle waves of adds that spawn, and switch all damage to the boss when needed.
Unlike many of the fights in Ulduar, Razorscale does not have a "hard mode".
Razorscale is a 2 phase fight; in Phase 1 you deal with waves of adds while using harpoon launchers to bring Razorscale down to be DPS'ed. In Phase 2, the adds stop spawning and you focus on killing Razorscale off.
Raid Setup
25 Man
3-4 tanks
4-5 healers
Fill the rest up with DPS. While ranged DPS do have an advantage here, melee are also capable.
10 Man
2 tanks
3 healers
5 DPS
Gear Requirements
This fight does have an enrage timer, meaning that fairly high gear is required to meet the deadline. You should be aiming at having the majority of your raid in Naxxramas epic gear from 10 man or 25 man respectively depending on which version of Ulduar you are playing.
Buffs and Consumables
All standard buffs and consumables are recommended. Nothing special is needed for this fight.
 Boss Abilities
25 Man - 12,600,000 HP
10 Man - 3,900,000 HP
Air Phase
Fireball - Razorscale shoots a fireball at a random player for 12025-13975 fire damage (8,000-10,000 in 10 man) every 1-3 seconds.
Devouring Flame - This has a 1.5 second cast time. It shoots a fireball at a random player that inflicts 7,863 to 9,137 (6,013-6,987 in 10 man) damage on hit and applies a patch of fire on the ground dealing 8,788-10,212 damage per second (6,013-6,987 in 10 man) to anyone stood in it. This patch of fire will last 25 seconds and should never be stood in. The ability is used every 10 seconds.
Ground Phase
Melee Hit - Around 11,000 on a Naxxramas geared tank (8,000 in 10 man).
Devouring Flame - This has a 1.5 second cast time. It shoots a fireball at a random player that inflicts 8,788-10,212 (6,013-6,987 in 10 man) damage on hit and applies a patch of fire on the ground dealing 8,788-10,212 damage per second (6,013-6,987 in 10 man) to anyone stood in it. This patch of fire will last 25 seconds and should never be stood in. The ability is used every 10 seconds.
Wing Buffet - Razorscale knocks everyone in his melee range back around 30 yards. It is used infrequently when Razorscale "feels like it", however melee are able to DPS normally; when he casts it they will be knocked back, then they can run back in and continue DPS.
Flame Buffet - This is a stacking debuff applied to the entire raid that increases fire damage taken by 1500 per stack (1000 in 10 man). It can stack up to 99 times. It has a 1.5 second cast time and is used every 10-15 seconds, lasting 60 seconds.
Flame Breath - This is a 50 yard frontal cone attack that deals 17,500-22,500 damage (13,125-16,875 in 10 man) to anyone in front of the boss. It has a 2.5 second cast time and is used every 15 seconds.
Fuse Armor - This reduces armor, attack speed and movement speed by 20% for 20 seconds. It is applied to the current tank every 10 seconds. It is countered by having your off tank(s) Taunt the boss every time the debuff reaches 2 stacks until it wears off the main tank and he Taunts Razorscale back onto himself.
Enrage - After 7 minutes, the boss will enrage dealing 1000% more damage.
This does mean that Razorscale has both a hard and soft enrage. A soft enrage being the Flame Buffet stacking too high, the hard enrage being the 7 minute timer.
 Additional NPCs In This Fight
Mole machines will appear out of the ground at random positions on the platform and spawn these hostile NPCs.
Dark Rune Guardian
280,000 HP
Melees for between 4000 and 5000.
Heals other Dark Rune NPCs.
Dark Rune Watcher
220,000 HP

Casts Chain Lightning and Lightning Bolts for between 500-12,000 damage.
Dark Rune Sentinel

This NPC hits relatively hard. It melees for 4,000 to 6,000.
It has a Heroic Strike which hits between 12,000 and 13,000.
It has a Whirlwind ability which can deal up to 30,000 damage.
Phase 1
Positioning

The Pull
Unlike many fights out there, this fight is started by talking to the dwarf NPC at the harpoon launchers to start the fight. This means your raid can practise positioning before the fight starts. Once you speak to the friendly dwarf NPC the hostile NPCs will start appearing on the platform and attacking the raid. Once you reach phase 2, the adds stop spawning.
 The Fight
When you first talk to the NPCs to start the encounter, the dwarves in the area will start collecting pieces of junk on the ground and repairing the harpoon launchers. It takes around 30 seconds or so for each launcher to be operational at which point a player can click it to launch the harpoon and start to bring Razorscale down.
The raid needs to spread out and deal with the waves of adds that will spawn from the mole machines around the platform, these adds are out to kill the friendly NPCs, so you need to stop them. 2-3 of them will come out of each mole machine and can consist of a mixture of Dark Rune Guardians, Dark Rune Watchers or Dark Rune Sentinels. It is recommended that you have a split of raid healers and tank healers at around 50/50, as whilst you are dealing with these NPCs, Razorscale will be spitting Fireballs and Devouring Flames at the raid.
If a player is hit by a Fireball, they will need to be healed quickly as a Devouring Flame or even another Fireball could possibly kill them if they get unlucky enough to take 2 hits in a row. When Devouring Flames are left on the floor, players need to move out of them immediately, as even one additional tick can kill you.
Otherwise, this phase will last for around 2 minutes to start with. The adds that spawn are very easy to kill, however the Dark Rune Sentinels should be killed by ranged DPS only due to their Whirlwind ability.
After 2 minutes is up, the 4th harpoon launcher will be ready. Have a player click all 4 launchers (or you can click them as they're rebuilt; it doesn't really matter) and Razorscale will be brought to the ground and temporarily stunned.
As soon as Razorscale is on the ground, all DPS in the raid needs to switch to the boss and use everything they have to burn his health down. Any un-killed adds just need to be off-tanked for a few moments while the rest of the raid attacks the boss. The raid needs to get Razorscale below 75% after he flies back up and the DoTs have finished ticking. If you are not able to burn 25% of his health each landing phase, you will not be able to beat the enrage timer.
After a short while of being stunned on the ground, Razorscale will do a Flame Breath on the harpoon launchers and destroy them all, undoing all the hard work of the friendly dwarves and starting the phase all over again.
You continue as in the beginning, waiting for the harpoon launchers to be rebuilt, and killing the adds that spawn. Once the second landing phase occurs, you need to take him to 50% HP, and Phase 2 will then begin.
Phase 2
Positioning

The Pull
When Razorscale lands, have your main tank waiting and ready to start building threat on the boss as quickly as possible. In addition, have any classes with Misdirection capability Misdirect the boss to the main tank to help him or her gain threat.
 The Fight
At 50% Razorscale will land permanently and start attacking the highest person on threat, hopefully this will be your tank, who will need to tank the boss facing away from the raid to avoid him Flame Breathing over the entire raid.
Once Razorscale has landed you are on a timer to kill him before the Flame Buffet stacks too high and one of Razorscale's fire based attacks, most likely Flame Breath, kills your tank in one shot.
Any adds that have been left alive will also need to be dealt with. It is recommended that your off tanks move the adds close to the boss so that AoE abilities such as Cleave, Whirlwind etc can kill them without taking DPS from the boss. As usual the Dark Rune Sentinels need to be kept away from the melee and killed by ranged DPS due to their Whirlwind.
Continuing from Phase 1, players will need to move out of the Devouring Flame patches and be healed after taking a hit from a Fireball, which, due to the Flame Buffet, will start hitting higher and higher on the raid.
One last ability your tanks need to be aware of is the Fuse Armor stacks. In addition to tanking the boss facing away from the raid and keeping safe from the Devouring Flames, they need to watch how many debuffs of this spell they have. Every time it reaches 2 stacks one of your off tanks needs to Taunt the boss (still keeping it facing away from the raid) so that the debuffs can reset on your main tank. Once they have reset, your main tank then can Taunt Razorscale back.
If you are near killing the boss, but are finding it hard to keep healing the tank and raid, have your main tank proactively use his large defensive cooldowns such as Shield Wall to give you a small amount of leeway at the last 10% or so.
After a short while, the boss should die.
Class Comments
Main Tank: In Phase 1, help tank the waves of adds that spawn, in Phase 2, be ready for the boss when it lands and keep it faced away from the raid.
Other Tanks: Pick up and tank the adds that spawn from the mole machines. Make sure you keep the Dark Rune Sentinels away from people due to their Whirlwinds. When you enter Phase 2, move the adds close to the boss so that passive AoE can kill them.
Healers: Keep the raid topped up as best you can at all times. Letting someone stay low even for a short while can lead to a death. Be ready to constantly heal the tank near the end of the fight, as the Flame Buffet stacks will make healing him very hard.
Ranged DPS: Kill off the adds in Phase 1, with Dark Rune Sentinels being top priority. Switch to the boss when he lands. In Phase 2, go all out without over-aggroing the main tank.
Melee DPS: In Phase 1 kill off the adds but avoid the Dark Rune Sentinels. At every landing phase, be standing waiting for the boss to maximise your DPS output on him.
